Guide to preparing an environmental impact assessment

Published:

2008, updated January 2012

Guideline to help you prepare your environmental impact assessment (EIA) which is required for your concession application.

Summary

The concession system helps the Department to ensure that concession activities on public conservation land are compatible with the primary aim of protecting natural and historic resources. Before granting a concession the Department must consider the nature and the effects of the proposed activity.

It is your responsibility, as an applicant, to provide a detailed description of the activity, the potential effects it may have, and to consider the ways that you can reduce any significant adverse effects on the natural, historic recreational and cultural values - an enivonmental impact assessment (EIA).

The guideline provides six steps to help you complete the EIA. The appendices provide tools to help you identify the potential effects of your activity and possible ways to reduce these effects. The environmental and water care codes are provided.

Additional appendices contain the EIA Best Practice reference resource example and the EIA Audit Assessment Sheet.
