Getting there

Access to this track is only available via the Pukaha Mount Bruce Visitor Centre and an entry fee is required.

Pukaha Mount Bruce is located on State highway 2, 30 km north of Masterton and 10 km south of Eketahuna on State Highway 2.

Pukaha Mount Bruce Wildlife Centre

You can see conservation in action at the Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre in the Northern Wairarapa. Tuatara, kokako, kiwi and takahe are all permanent residents here.

Te Arapiki o Tawhaki is accessed via Pukaha Mount Bruce Wildlife Centre.

Opening hours

Open daily from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.  Closed Christmas Day.

Entrance fees

Adults: $15
Children 5 - 17 years: $4
Children under 5: free

What to expect on a walking track:

  • Easy to moderate walking from a few minutes to a day
  • Track is mostly well formed, some sections may be steep, rough or muddy
  • Suitable for people with low to moderate fitness and abilities
  • Clearly sign posted. Stream and river crossings are bridged
  • Walking shoes or light tramping/hiking boots required
