Description

This pleasant and easy walk begins just beyond the bridge across Catchpool Stream and leads upstream through nikau groves and mature podocarp/broadleaf forest to another bridge and the Orongorongo Track. The round trip is completed by returning down the Orongorongo Track.

Getting there

Take the Coast Road to Catchpool Valley, 12 km south of Wainuiomata in the Hutt Valley. Walk the Orongorongo Track for 15 minutes until you see the sign for the Catchpool Loop Track.

Plan and prepare

The Catchpool Valley park gates close at 6pm (8pm during daylight saving) and reopen at 8.00 am.
