Hakarimata Scenic Reserve

The Hakarimata Scenic Reserve near Ngaruawahia is a great place to see kauri, especially the large kauri on the Kauri Loop Track.

Description

Twenty minutes walk from the top viewpoint on the Kauri Loop Track, there is an excellent lookout with views south across Hamilton. The Hakarimata Walkway continues along the undulating crest of the Hakarimata Range with occasional views out to the west and east. The old swing bridge at the Waingaro Rd end has gone and the walkway now follows the new rail trail for a further 1.5km and comes out on Waingaro Rd closer to Ngaruawahia.
