The Karakariki Scenic Reserve was originally set aside as a water conservation reserve. At one time the forest was dominated by kauri but this was milled out in the early 1900s. Category: Walking track Alert: The first part of the track crosses private farmland.

This 1 hour return walk at Te Kauri Park includes a swing bridge over Waikuku Stream. The park also features several other short walks. Category: Short walk Completion Time: 1 hr return Alert: The circuit walk via the Manuka and Waikuku tracks is closed from 30 June to the end of October 2009 while a new bridge is being built.
Native forests grace Te Tapui Scenic Reserve and there is a nice loop track that follows through the bush and up to the summit, where there is a lookout tower with great views of surrounding countryside. Category: Tramping track Completion Time: 2 hr 30 min return
