Coromandel Peninsula

Join New Zealanders and tourists in enjoying the popular Coromandel Peninsula in the Waikato. There are numerous nature reserves here which help preserve our endangered species.

Description

The track crosses private farmland and then passes through regenerating coastal forest with several stream crossings. The area was extensively logged and mined in the past. It is now part of the Project Kiwi Kuatonu Kiwi Sanctuary.

Plan and prepare

Keep to the track to avoid dangerous mine shafts in the area.
