This well defined track will take you past old quarry sites and remains. Ten numbered posts are placed along the track at sites of interest.

Getting there

From Stratford, head north along State Highway 3 for 6 km, turning left into York Road. The track starts at the end of the York Road.

About the area


York Road Loop Track is within Egmont National Park and follows part of the old Egmont Branch Railway Line which was constructed to provide metal for roads and rocks for Port Taranaki. The quarry operated until the late 1920s
