Description

All track times are return times from Post Office Bay. They are generous and allow for stops to listen to the birds.

Flagstaff Point Lookout

Time: 20 min return

A flagstaff was erected here by Charles Traill so he could signal to residents of Paterson Inlet when the mail boat arrived from Bluff.

Sydney Cove Picnic Area

Time: 20 min return

A golden sand beach with picnic tables, a picnic shelter, toilet and fresh water.

Boulder Beach

Time: 1 hr 30 min return

Boulder Beach gets its name from two massive boulders now hidden in the forest covering the southern ridge above the beach. About an hour or so further on from Boulder Beach is West End Beach.

West End Beach

Time: 2 hr return

As the name suggests, this is the most westerly of the island's beaches, where coastal plant communities merge into the heavier forest of the island. The track forms a loop with the Boulder Beach track giving an easy round trip of about three hours.
