Fees and bookings
Fees are charged per person, per night to stay in huts and campsites on the Rakiura Track Great Walk. There are no fees for park entry.
Great Walk hut or campsite bookings may be completed online or purchased from Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre in Halfmoon Bay. You must print your confirmation letter or collect it from the Visitor Centre before departure.

- Maximum stay periods apply: 2 nights at huts and campsites (exception: hunters holding a valid hunting permit may stay up to 10 days at the campsites).

Make sure you read all the Rakiura Great Walk information and the terms and conditions, which includes information about cancellations, before you make your booking.
Commercial groups
A concession (an official authorisation) is required to operate any commercial activity in an area managed by the Department of Conservation. Concessions are required for but not restricted to: guiding (including tramping, walking, fishing, hunting, climbing/ski tours, kayaking/canoeing); transport services; and commercial education or instruction activities. Commercial operators must have a licence from DOC to purchase Great Walk Tickets on the Rakiura Great Walk. Conditions apply. Contact Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre for further information. Discounts
A 10% discount is available to members of the Mountain Safety Council, Federated Mountain Club and NZ Deer Stalkers Association and instructors holding a valid Backcountry Hut Pass. Your membership card and Backcountry Hut Pass details must be supplied upon booking.
Credit card details
For your own security, we do not hold credit card details on our system or in our offices. If you need to make an alteration or cancellation you must therefore phone or fax your credit card details again to the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre. Sending credit card details by email is not recommended for security reasons.
