The trip up to the 1341-metre Little Criffel summit is classified as a route. It is steep, unformed and best suited for fit and experienced trampers. This is the closest walking access from Wanaka to the Pisa Conservation Area. Visitors are rewarded with extensive views into the Upper Clutha Valley and across to Mount Aspiring/Tititea and the surrounding ranges.

The track start is by a small signposted carpark, 12 kilometres from town on the Cardrona Valley Road. Cross the Cardrona River and follow the markers and stiles up the hill. The track usually follows the fenceline, though with a few marked deviations. After the top stile, turn left and follow the track to the summit.
