The track offers a splendid mixture of exotic and beech forest, with alpine tussocklands at the highest sections and many inspiring views. Parts of the track were established to help harvest beech trees to fuel the steamer Earnslaw. The portion of the track closest to Fernhill is steep, but the remainder of it is gradual and undulating.

Getting there

From the start at Wynard Crescent continue up the Fernhill-One Mile Track then descend until you reach the Skyline Access Road. Enter the One Mile Creek walk 100 metres down the road.
