Places to stay
All campsites and huts have a water supply with a table and benches for cooking, while huts have bunks with mattresses, stoves, benches, tables and cooking facilities.
Bottled gas is provided in huts for cooking and heating. During the winter off- season the designated campsites are free of charge.
Hut and campsite fees
Fees are charged per person, per night to stay in huts or campsites on the Whanganui Journey. There are no fees for park entry.
The Whanganui Journey Great Walk season operates from 1 October to 30 April. During this season you must book your hut or campsite via the online booking system. During off-peak season Backcountry Hut Pass or hut tickets are required. Fees must be paid before you start the journey.
