Note: There are some DOC administered reserves where freedom camping is allowed for self-contained vehicles only. They are listed on this page. For all other DOC administered reserves, even if not listed here, freedom camping is prohibited under section 44 (1) of the Reserves Act.

Additional site where freedom camping is prohibited

In accordance with the Freedom Camping Act 2011, DOC will be prohibiting freedom camping at an additional site on public conservation land. These changes come into effect on 19 December 2025.

Prohibited means that no freedom camping will be permitted.

The Freedom Camping Notice for the site is listed below – it defines where freedom camping will be prohibited at the site. It is also available electronically (or in paper form for a small fee) at DOC offices.
