Places to take dogs in the Auckland region
DOC recognises that people enjoy walking their dogs and that dogs need exercise. Therefore, dogs are allowed in a limited number of conservation areas provided they are kept on a lead and their faeces are removed.

- Kaipara Harbour Crown foreshore adjacent to Okahukura Peninsula
- Tauhoa River Marginal Strip and adjacent foreshore
- Tauhoa Stewardship Area and adjacent foreshore
- Te Pahi Stewardship Area
- Hamatanga Marginal Strip (before 9.00am and after 7.00pm from Labour Weekend to the end of daylight savings)
- Karaka Point Marginal Strip
- Muriwai Beach Marginal Strip and adjacent foreshore
