Getting there

Trounson is located about 30 minutes drive north of Dargaville, just off State Highway 12, en route to the Waipoua Forest. Look for the Trounson signpost. If travelling from the north, watch for the signpost located shortly after you leave the Waipoua Forest.

Rules for visitors

  • Kauri roots are extremely sensitive to trampling. Along the track steps have been taken to protect the delicate root structure of the kauri. Please stay on the track to ensure no damage is done to these magnificent trees.
  • In strong winds, please be aware of falling branches.
  • No dogs allowed
