DOC's first Mainland Island in Northland, Trounson Kauri Park is a 450-hectare reserve featuring an impressive stand of kauri trees. Location: Trounson Kauri Park is located in western Northland, 40-km north of Dargaville.
Waipoua, and the adjoining forests of Mataraua and Waima, make up the largest remaining tract of native forest in Northland.Alert: The Waipoua campground and Waipoua Visitor Centre are now managed by Te Iwi O Te Roroa.
