A short walk from the house is a bird watching hide on the edge of the lagoon. Keys are available from the DOC Manawatū Rangitīkei Office on request.

Hunting

Game-bird hunting

Game-bird hunting is permitted between May and July. People using dogs or firearms for waterfowl hunting need to carry permits which are available from the Wellington Fish and Game Council, which also manages balloting of hunting stands.
