Mahoe, Ball's Clearing Scenic Reserve
Puketitiri Reserves comprise of Hutchinson, Ball's Clearing and William Hartree Memorial Scenic Reserves and Little Bush, a Forest and Bird Reserve. They offer opportunities for walks through regenerating forest and clearings.
Puketitiri Reserves exist largely through the efforts of a group of local dedicated conservationists. Their advocacy for the cause of conservation and generosity in gifting land for reserves was at a time when the need for conservation wasn't so apparent.
Puketitiri Reserves comprise of Hutchinson, Ball's Clearing and William Hartree Memorial Scenic Reserves and Little Bush, a Forest and Bird Reserve. You can also follow the Kaweka Heritage Trail and visit the Puketitiri Museum.
There are a variety of pleasant walks in the Puketitiri Reserves that pass through forests and clearings, with opportunites for bird watching and photography.
There is no camping or other accommodation at any of the reserves. The nearest DOC accommodation is in the neighbouring Kaweka Forest Park.
No fires, dogs or camping are permitted in any of the reserves. Visitors should be prepared for sudden weather changes and high winds.
