The New Zealand native plant kakabeak can be found at Boundary Stream

Bring your binoculars and dress "quietly" to avoid rustling and you'll see and hear a wide range of New Zealand native wildlife, including North Island brown kiwi, kaka, kokako, NZ falcon, kereru, rifleman, North Island robin, tui, bellbird, whitehead, tomtit, grey warbler, shining and longtailed cuckoo.

Specialist activities: Photography

From well formed tracks, you can take stunning photos of our native animals and plants, including neinei, and our endemic kakabeak. The inquisitive North Island robin will often stay close enough to allow a good portrait shot!
