Ahuriri Conservation Park
This region provides recreational opportunities from short walks to challenging mountain-biking and tramping trips.
There are three main entrance points to conservation land in this region:
There are public access easements crossing through several working high-country stations. Always respect the landowner's livestock and property; stay on the marked track until you reach the conservation land, leave gates as you find them and use stiles where provided.
Dromedary Hill (1664 m) is in Lindis Conservation Area, North Otago.
This (dual-use) tramping track north of Lindis Pass, in Lindis Conservation Area continues on from Dromedary Hill walking track.
This dual use tramping track traverses through the best of what the Lindis area has to offer.
This demanding two- to three-day tramp is for experienced parties. From Lake Hawea it follows the Timaru River, crosses Mount Martha Saddle and descends into the Ahuriri Valley.
Several tracks in the Lindis area are dual use, suitable for mountain-biking.
Hunting is confined to public conservation land. As Longslip, Breast Hill and Dalrachney stations border this land it is important that hunters confirm the status of the area in which they intend to hunt. Hunters need to obtain a hunting permit from the local DOC office.
Find businesses that are DOC-approved to provide guided activities and tours in the Lindis area.
