Location

Lake Rerewhakaaitu is 29 km south-east of Rotorua. For vehicle access to the lake, turn off State Highway 5 onto State Highway 38 and then onto Rerewhakaaitu Road.

Places to stay

Two Department of Conservation campsites around the lake are at Ash Pit Bay and Awaatua Bay. Both are self-registration and first come, first served.

The Rotorua District Council administers a campsite at Roe Reserve.

The lake is the only water source, so it is advisable to bring drinking water. Toilets are provided. Open fires are prohibited - please use barbecue facilities where provided, or portable gas cookers. There is no rubbish collection, so please take your rubbish with you.
