Activities at Motuihe Recreation Reserve

There are several picnic grounds at the northern end of the island, with changing sheds and toilets. Open fires and fireworks are not permitted, although gas barbecues may be brought onto the island and used in open areas.

There are sites for large group picnics but these should be discussed with the Auckland Area concessions ranger, ph +64 9 445-9142 prior to the day as they may require a permit. A DOC ranger is resident on the island.

Dogs are not permitted on the island or on the island's beaches or foreshore as they are a threat to wildlife.
