Mahināpua Cottage
Getting there
Drive 10km south of Hokitika on SH6 and follow the sign to the lake. Entry to the lake is opposite the Mahināpua Hotel, follow the gravel road to the waterfront. There is no vehicle access to the cottage but vehicles can be parked below the cottage just past the toilet block on the right. Behind the Paddlesteamer there is a track uphill through native bush to the cottage.
Features
The cottage is nestled in a forested scenic reserve on the edge of Lake Mahināpua. Short walks, swimming, camping, picnic areas and yacht boat launching facilities at the lake.

Facilities
- Sleeps 4 - 1 double bed and 2 single beds (sleep 5 if sofa bed used).
- Mattresses and pillows provided. No bedding provided.
- Flush toilet.
- Electric lighting/heating
- Stove, microwave, fridge / freezer, toaster.
- Pots, pans, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
- Washing machine.
- Hot shower.
Fees (sole occupancy)
- $40.00 per night for one or two persons.
- $10.00 per night per additional person (5yrs of age and over).
- Booking is available as sole occupancy only.
- Wildfood Festival weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday) will be a minimum fee of $100.00.

- A non refundable deposit of $40.00 is required to confirm your booking.
Plan and prepare
- There is no bedding or linen provided - you will need to bring your own duvet/sleeping bag, pillowslips, towel, tea towels, dishcloths, toilet paper, rubbish bin liner and cleaning products.
- Please report any breakages or issues to the West Coast Conservancy office.
- Visitors are expected to leave the cottage clean and tidy.
- Vacuum cleaner, mop, broom and dust pan provided.
- Please take all rubbish and recycling with you.
- Please vacate the cottage by 11am on the day of departure.
- New arrivals from 1pm.
- No dogs are permitted.
This is an older style cottage with basic facilities. Due to being situated in the bush a musty odour is sometimes perceived after wet weather. Airing of the cottage is recommended.
