Tiritiri Matangi Island bunkhouse
The bunkhouse on Tiritiri Matangi Island can be booked for overnight stays, however this facility has limited availability as it is primarily used by volunteers and students carrying out work on the island.
Getting there
There is a regular ferry service which operates every day apart from Mondays and Tuesdays. Please be aware of this if you are booking the bunkhouse on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday nights. The ferry does operate on public holidays (excluding Christmas Day) and every day over the period from 26 December to the third Sunday in January.
You can book the ferry with 360 Discovery through their website www.360discovery.co.nz. As both the bunkhouse and ferry service can get booked out in advance for long periods, it is best to check both are available for your chosen dates before going ahead and finalising both bookings.
Please note, the wharf may only be used for loading or unloading passengers.
Also note that incorrectly packaged gear will not be allowed onto the island, please read the biosecurity requirements ('Important information for overnight visitors to the bunkhouse'), which can be downloaded in the 'See also' box above.
