The secluded campsite is at the head of 2 spectacular gorges above the Waiohine River. It’s a popular area for rafting, canoeing and outdoor education. A 92 m suspension bridge takes you to tracks up the valley.

Notes

  • Gravel access with a stream ford required
  • Visitors must contact DOC before using the abseiling site
  • Dogs permitted. Must be on a least at all times

From Carterton drive through Matarawa. Follow Moffats Rd, Joseph Rd then Waiohine Gorge Rd to end. 18 km NW of Greytown.

Conservation Campsites are accessible by vehicle. You can drive to most and boat-in to some. Each Conservation Campsite is unique but the facilities and services provided at campsites are divided into three categories; Serviced, Standard, Basic.
