Catchpool Valley campsite
Alert/Important notice
Access to the Catchpool top car park and campsite will be restricted to 4wd vehicles from Monday 22 February to the end of March while the Catchpool Ford upgrade takes place.
Alternative camping sites are available in the mid valley section of the park.
Location
Catchpool Valley campsite is located 12 km south of Wainuiomata, off SH2 via Hutt Valley, 45 minutes drive from Wellington.
Park or reserve
In the Rimutaka Forest Park you can enjoy some of Wellington's finest mountain biking, not to mention the native birdlife and walking tracks.

Catchpool
Camp beside Catchpool stream close to plenty of good walks into the Orongorongo Valley. A 24 hr emergency phone is at the education centre.
Notes
- Access: Short section of gravel and stream ford
- Gates open summer 8am–8pm; winter 8am–6pm
- Dogs permitted. Must be on a leash at all times as there are kiwi in the park.
Getting there
Follow the Coast Rd south of Wainuiomata for 10 km to the main gate (Rimutaka Forest Park entrance). The campsite is 2.5 km past the Park entrance and is clearly signposted.
