The Kauaeranga Valley has many campgrounds nestled beside the Kauaeranga River, which flows down from the Coromandel Ranges through the valley. The valley has a choice of walks, swimming spots and historic relics from kauri logging days.
The Kauaeranga Valley has eight campsites beside the Kauaeranga River. Extensive kauri logging took place here and the native forests you now see are regrowth. The valley has plenty of walks, swimming spots and historic relics from logging days. Other activities include horse trekking, abseiling, rock climbing, fishing, picnicking, hunting and mountainbiking.

This campsite at the end of the Kauaeranga Valley Road is closest to the Webb Creek track up to the Pinnacles and the Billygoat Basin track. Camp at the start of the Kauri Trail, walk the trail or explore other places.

Getting there
Follow the Kauaeranga Valley Road from Thames for 14km to the visitor centre. Trestle View campsite is 9km north of the visitor centre, and is the last campsite at the end of the road. Access is via a gravel road.
