Approximately 21km along Kauaeranga Valley Rd, opposite the Education camp and Wainora campsite.

The Kauaeranga Valley has many campgrounds nestled beside the Kauaeranga River, which flows down from the Coromandel Ranges through the valley. The valley has a choice of walks, swimming spots and historic relics from kauri logging days.
The Kauaeranga Valley has eight campsites beside the Kauaeranga River. Extensive kauri logging took place here and the native forests you now see are regrowth. The valley has plenty of walks, swimming spots and historic relics from logging days. Other activities include horse trekking, abseiling, rock climbing, fishing, picnicking, hunting and mountainbiking.

This campsite offers two different camping levels, on the lower level you can camp right on the rivers edge. Walk on a boardwalk through forest.

- Please pay camp fees at the Kauaeranga visitor centre.
Getting there
Follow the Kauaeranga Valley Road from Thames for 14km to the visitor centre. Totara Flat is 7.5km north of the visitor centre. Second campground on right past visitor centre.
