Kahurangi National Park

Created in 1996, Kahurangi is one of New Zealand's newest and the second largest national park. It's located in the northwest corner of New Zealand's South Island.

  • Number of tent sites - 20

Camp beside the Cobb River which offers good swimming and fishing.

Notes

  • Access: Unsealed, steep and windy. One way in some sections. Icy and 4WD only in winter.
  • Road not suitable for motor-homes or caravans.
  • Campfires permitted. Be aware of fire bans and higher fire risk during summer months. Contact the local DOC office or Council for details. Follow the on-site signs.

Turn off SH 60 at Upper Takaka and follow the Cobb Dam Rd for 35km. The campsite is at the top end of the Cobb Reservoir.
