This is a large, flat, grassy site beside the river, and a good starting or mid point stop if undertaking the River Journey. There is a 10 bunk bunkroom and boat access nearby the campsite.

Fees

If you are camping in connection with the Whanganui Journey you need to book your bunk bed or campsite using the online booking system and you should check the fees and conditions page. If you are not camping as part of the Whanganui Journey then the fee is $10.

What to expect from a Great Walk Campsite

Great Walk campsites are found along seven of the Great Walks and the Whanganui Journey. They cater for people who are walking or boating the Great Walk or Journey and range from large campsites that accommodate around 100 campers to small campsites catering for 20 campers or less. Campsite facilities are provided at all Great Walk campsites. Note that these do not include the indoor facilities provided at Great Walk huts.
