Getting there
From SH 5 via Patoka and Puketitiri. Travel 35 km along Puketitiri Rd, turn right into Pakaututu Rd. Travel 9 km then turn left into Makahu Rd and follow to road end. 1 hour of unsealed roads and river ford to be crossed.

Activities
Relax at the nearby thermal springs or go tramping, fishing, swimming or rafting. Hunt sika and red deer in the park. The river offers rainbow and brown trout.
