Stewart Island/Rakiura is home to Rakiura National Park. The main settlement in Halfmoon Bay has several visitor centres and various accommodation options. From Halfmoon Bay you can take a range of day walks.
These huts offer very basic shelter with limited facilities and services. Fees: $20 per person/per stay (you can stay up to 10 days). Bookings are essential - book through the Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre, ph +64 3 219 0009, fax +64 3 219 0003; rakiuravc@doc.govt.nz
