The track to the summit of Parapara Peak (1249 m) is steep and difficult, and requires fitness and experience.9 km return via same track
Dog access
This full day tramp is suitable for trampers with a high level of fitness. It takes 4–5 hours to reach the alpine tops of Parapara Peak, 1249 m.
The best views of Golden Bay are from the ridge running north to the trig station.
Access is from Ward-Holmes Road, 11 km north of Takaka. Takaka is 107 km northwest of Nelson on State Highway 60. The route to Parapara Peak starts from the car park in Ward-Holmes Road.
There are no huts or campsites on this walk.
