About this hut

The original standard Forest Service Hut was built in the late 1960’s. Cattle Creek Hut is now maintained by members of the Ruahine Deerstalkers Association, who have a long affiliation with the hut and worked on upgrading it in 1983.

Cattle Creek Hut is situated on a flat clearing surrounded by regenerating scrub and horopito. At 730m altitude, the area is prone to strong winds and high rainfall.

Getting there

Cattle Creek Hut can be reached from Tamaki West Road via Stanfield Hut.
