Introduction

Walk a 45-minute circular track in Little Bush which passes through regenerating forest of abundant ferns, climbers and native orchids.

Little Bush refers to the smaller area of remaining native forest. This contrasts with Ball’s Clearing Forest which used to be referred to as Big Bush.

Little Bush is a private reserve, open to the public at all times. It was purchased by the NZ Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society from Mr and Mrs Whittle who had nurtured its protection for over 40 years, and continue to do so.
