Map

All roads lead to Tongariro National Park.
Tongariro National Park is probably the most
accessible of all our national parks with road
access surrounding the park, several airports
close by and the main trunk railway passing
down the eastern and southern sides

Roads surround Tongariro National Park. State Highway 4 brings travellers down from Hamilton via Taumarunui to the western side of the national park while those in Wanganui can make their way northwards over the Paraparas to Ohakune and the southern end of the national park.

State Highway 1 Travels right through the conservancy down the eastern side of Lake Taupo and across the Desert Road on the eastern side of the park. Highways 46 and 49 give access to the northern and southern sides of the park.
