Access to Twelve Mile hunting block
The Queenstown hunting area consists of two blocks: Twelve Mile (2200 hectares) on the slopes of Mt Crichton, and Dog Bush (540 hectares) near Mt Nicholas Station. These blocks are characteristic of the mountainous terrain surrounding Lake Wakatipu.
Species present are goats, fallow deer and chamois.
The area can be hot in summer and is a little less wet than the nearby Southern Alps/Kā Tiritiri o te Moana, but the tops are still very exposed and subject to changeable weather.
