Oteake Range hunting block

General information

This region is part of the Oteake Conservation Area and is generally gentle, rolling tussock country. Red deer and pigs are found here.

Access

To access the Oteake hunting block from the eastern side of Hawkdun Range, go to the sign posted car park just off SH83 by the Otamatapaio Station driveway. Walking access is the up the Otamatapaio River bed or along the true left of the river. There is no formed track but after a distance of approximately 8 km there is a marked public easement to Otamatapaio Hut. As a courtesy please contact Bog Roy Station +64 3 4389 400.

To access the block from the western side of Hawkdun Range, there is a public foot and vehicle easement at Shepherds Hut Creek. Runholder permission is required before taking firearms on the easement.
