The areas listed for the West Coast are sites holding moderate to high tahr numbers that are commonly accessed for recreational tahr hunting.
Please be aware that tahr numbers and locations given are a guide only and the numbers and locations of tahr will vary with hunting pressure and season. Aerial or ground tahr control is undertaken each year in many of the listed areas. This information is noted in each site description.

This area is open year round with helicopter access permitted all year. Foot access is possible, but difficult. It takes 2-3 days to reach Prices Basin hut. Highest tahr numbers are found on the true left branch of Prices River.
