In Auckland volunteers help with many different conservation tasks such as habitat restoration, weed control, tree planting, whale stranding, advocacy, species monitoring, trapping for pests, painting and building maintenance.

The projects described below are all undertaken on public conservation land (with the exception of shorebird protection groups), whether on islands in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park or on the mainland. Some are coordinated by the Department and others organised and supervised by community trusts and groups.
