Artist's responsibilities and copyright

Artist responsibilities

All resident artists must meet DOC requirements governing the appropriate use of DOC facilities.

Each resident artist will be expected to undertake a reasonable amount of media and promotional activity in relation to the residency.

Resident artists must give due acknowledgment to DOC and Creative New Zealand in association with any works they may commence or complete during the residency.

Prior to the residency, artists must provide DOC’s Wild Creations co-ordinator with a photographic likeness of themselves which DOC and/or Creative New Zealand may reproduce in any reports or promotional material related to the Wild Creations programme.

Following the residency each artist must forward to DOC’s Wild Creations co-ordinator:

  • Two copies of a written report on the residency, to be received within eight weeks of the completion of the residency, and
  • Photographic documentation of some of the works arising from the residency, which may be freely reproduced by DOC and/or Creative New Zealand in any reports or promotional material relating to the Wild Creations programme.

Copyright

The Department of Conservation and Creative New Zealand acknowledge that all works commenced or completed by a resident artist during a Wild Creations residency shall be the property of the artist concerned. Neither DOC nor Creative New Zealand shall have a copyright or intellectual property claim to works except for the purposes of reporting and promoting the Wild Creations programme.
