Taranaki/Whanganui Conservation Board members
The following people are currently appointed to the Taranaki/Whanganui Conservation Board by the Minister of Conservation:

Anne-Marie Broughton - Whanganui
Anne-Marie is currently employed as a Land Development Consultant with the Maori Trustee in Whanganui and works closely with Maori landowners, farmers and councils from north Taranaki to Otaki and east to Turangi. Anne-Marie has experience and qualifications in business management, business development and the design and delivery of adult education. She has iwi affiliations to Ngaa Rauru, Te Atihaunui a Paparangi, Ngati Ruanui, Nga Ruahine and Ngati Rangi and enjoys camping, tramping and walking.
Dr Christine Cheyne - Palmerston North
Christine is an Associate Professor at Massey University and co-ordinates the Resource and Environmental Planning Programme. Christine brings extensive experience dealing with public policy development, strategic planning processes and strategic management issues as well as previous experience working in local council and government agencies. Christine is a keen conservationist with interests in tramping and recreational cycling, and environmental protection and enhancement.
Dave Digby - Stratford
Dave is a tourism operator in the Taranaki area and a well-known member of his community. Dave is actively involved with his local tramping club and the Taranaki Mountain Safety Council as well as being an Honorary Warranted DOC Officer. Dave has an intimate knowledge of the region's large natural heritage and was a strong contributor to the creation of the Egmont National Park Management Plan.
Barney Haami - Whanganui
Barney has been recommended to the Board since 1998 by the Whanganui River Maori Trust Board as per the provision in the Conservation Act. Barney is affiliated to Te Atihaunui-a-paparangi and has strong iwi ties within Whanganui. He is a strong advocate for Whanganui River iwi on a wide range of matters.
Rex Hendry - New Plymouth
With a background in outdoor recreation and local government planning, Rex is familiar with conservation policies and practices from a range of perspectives. He is a former Department of Conservation Area Manager and has specialist skills in recreation, sport and tourism management. Rex also has a long work history in the Antarctic and currently works seasonally as a guide and lecturer on tourist ships to the southern continent.
Wikitoria Keenan - New Plymouth
Wikitoria fills the statutory appointment on behalf of the Taranaki Maori Trust Board. Wiki has affiliations to Ngati Te Whiti of Te Atiawa (Taranaki) and has considerable experience working with various boards, councils and trusts and has a long involvement in conservation issues. Wiki is the current Chair of Te Atiawa Iwi Authority and Te Atiawa (Taranaki) Settlements Trust.
Darryn Ratana (Chairperson) - Whanganui
Darryn is currently Chair of Ngaa Rauru and also has affiliations to Te Arawa. He has wide experience in community consultation and data analysis. Darryn is personally involved with Ngaa Rauru conservation strategies and has an interest in the continuing conservation of native animals such as kiwi, whio and marine-related issues.
Rachel Steele - Owhango, Taumarunui
Rachel is a self-employed farmer and neighbouring landowner of the Whanganui National Park with a QEII Trust covenant on her property. She has strong ties with her community and has served as a councillor on the Ruapehu District Council. Rachel is a keen conservationist and has been actively retiring steep land on the farm in order to prevent erosion and create green corridors, as well as implementing a conservation plan for kiwi and whio.
