The Board is an important link between the community and DOC. It meets four or five times a year for one or two days, on a rotation that takes it to different parts of the Otago Conservancy.

The first day is usually a meeting day. Most of the Board meeting is open to the public - particularly the public forum, which is always held in the early afternoon.

The second day is usually a field trip, which allows Board members to see areas of public conservation land and recreation facilities in different parts of Otago.
