Stephen Lowndes has had many years experience in local government and community affairs.  From 1985 – 2001 he was the director of the Akaroa Museum.  In 2001 he was elected as a councillor for the Banks Peninsula District Council, a position he held until the council’s amalgamation with the Christchurch City Council in 2005 when he became a community board member. 

He currently holds certification to sit on RMA hearings panels, he is currently on the board of the Akaroa Civic Trust, and is a member of the Canterbury District Health Board Public Health and Disabilities Advisory Committee.

He has also previously served on the Greater Christchurch Urban Development Strategy Forum, on the Akaroa Museum Advisory Board and on the Okains Bay Maori and Colonial Museum Trust Board, on the Canterbury Museum Trust Board and the Rural Canterbury Primary Health Organisation.

Term

Stephen Lowndes' term with the board expires in 2011.
