The Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board is composed of ten members of the public, with interests in the conservation aspects of their community. They are a diverse group of people, bringing a range of skills, knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to the table.
Members of the board are appointed for varying terms of up to three years by the Minister of Conservation, after consultation with the New Zealand Conservation Authority and Minister of Maori Affairs. Nominations for Board membership are put forward by a wide range of organisations and individuals after the Minister has called for nominations under the provisions of the Conservation Act 1987.
Stephen Lowndes has had many years experience in local government and community affairs.
David Round is a sixth generation South Islander, whose pioneer forebears have contributed to the rich history of the south since 1842.
Fiona Musson is of Ngai Tahu descent with affiliation to Te Taumutu Rūnanga.
Mal Clarbrough has considerable knowledge and experience of conservation issues from 26 years working with the departments of Lands & Survey and Conservation.
Jan is a private English language teacher and has been a partner in a family farm for around 20 years.
Wiki Baker is of Ngāi Tahu descent with affiliation to the Arowhenua Runanga near Temuka.
Mandy Waaka-Home is of Hawea, Rapuwai, Waitaha, Mamoe me Kai Tahu descent.
Dr John Keoghan of Rolleston has a strong plant and agricultural science background.
Joseph Hullen of Kaiapoi is a nominee of Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu.
Jimmy Wallace of Geraldine has 39 years experience in general legal practice.
