Two Omataroa Trustland areas protected by Nga Whenua Rahui kawenata, Puhikoko Reserve and Ngakauroa Stream, are now part of the practical component of a degree in Environmental Studies.

Punawhakaata

A 26 hectare wetland on the southeast shore of Lake Taupo is now being restored, in large part thanks to Makere Rangitoheriri, one of the oldest surviving members of the Te Rangiita hapu.

Motutaiko Island lies 3.4 kilometres off the south-eastern shore of Lake Taupo. Its unique ecological and cultural legacy brings with it many management challenges.

Owhaoko Blocks

The Owhaoko Blocks are 13,776 hectares of fragile high country tussockland between the Kaimanawa and Kaweka Forest Parks northeast of Waiouru in the central North Island.

Pohaturoa.

Pohaturoa

The Pohaturoa Trust kawenata (covenant) is a 990-hectare forest block near Wairoa, northern Hawke’s Bay, set aside for conservation from lands comprising Pohaturoa Station.
