Cobb Valley mistletoe cage maintenance

A number of mistletoes (Peraxilla tetrapetala) growing on mountain beech trees were caged (using wire netting) in the mid 1990s on Cobb Ridge. Most of the caged mistletoes have now outgrown their cages and the cages need enlarging. You will be helping to enlarge cages to give these plants growing room.

Dates: 15 - 19 February 2010.

Where: Cobb Valley, Golden Bay.

Number of volunteers required: Six.

Fitness/skills: Medium fitness required. You will be walking for half to one hour to reach the work site along a maintained track. You will be joining and making shapes with wire and wire netting.

Training: No training required.

Accommodation: Accomodation is in the Rangers house in the Cobb Valley; shower, cooking facilities, heating etc.

What to bring: Gear list two

Food: Will be provided.

Pickup/transport: 10am on 15 February 2009, at the Golden Bay Area Office, Takaka.

Cost: Contribution towards food and costs incurred - $60 per person.

Bookings: Bookings essential.
