Foliar Browse Index (FBI)
What's the course about?
This technique looks at the impacts of possums on forest health, using indicator species.
The FBI course is based on the FBI field protocol from Landcare Research. It involves a lot of time in the field with technical experts, working on an actual FBI plot. Regular performance feedback is provided.
Monitoring techniques must be applied consistently so that the data collected is accurate and the studies can be replicated over time. That way, we can build a local and national picture of changes and trend. Monitoring is important to show our work is making a positive difference for conservation.
Who is it for?
