Lake Kaniere

Lake Kaniere is a beautiful lake located 19 km east of Hokitika on the West Coast.

There are several picnic places and one camping area, numerous short walks including two walkways.

The tracks and environmental issues at Lake Kaniere present a range of learning experiences for teachers to achieve a range of curriculum objectives. The teaching resource contains background information on the natural and human history and uses of Lake Kaniere and suggestions for class and site-based activities.
