Tautuku Bay

In a field trip to Catlins Coast, in the south-east of the South Island, students can experience New Zealand close to the way it was hundreds of years ago. They can investigate a range of ecological environments - lake, bush and coastal, and gain knowledge about human influence on the landscape.

The Catlins Coast teaching resource focuses on three sites, all within easy access of the Tautuku Outdoor Education Centre: Lake Wilkie, Tahakopa Bay and Picnic Point Scenic Reserve.

Two easy family walks combining forest and foreshore on the Catlins Coast. Both are just off the Southern Scenic Route and easy to access.
